2011 Junior Canadian Open

Once again the Canadian Open has come and gone.  This year I was coaching the Red Freeski Academy rather than competing which was quite a big change, but still fun nonetheless.  Everyone killed it but my favourite runs were skied by Xander Sterpin, Keegan Capel, and George Rodney - watch out for these guys!

On Saturday we were rewarded for our 7AM rise with a beautiful sunrise atop Granite mountain - I snapped these photos.

The sun rose, kids tore Link's apart, then I took a late afternoon lap through the pits with the boys.  Large thanks to Vinzzzzzzzzzzzzenz Keller for theses next photos!

G.N.A.R. - A Movie Everyone Should Watch.

Click this link --> http://unofficialnetworks.com/gnar and take the time to watch this movie!  It's my favorite movie and will always remind me how much fun I can have not only skiing, but in everyday life with my friends.

POW!

Over the past couple days we have officially received 33cms (13") of fresh pow, but due to wind loading on the north/northeast aspects of the hill, there are places with probably 50cms of that fluffy white stuff.  The past two days have been incredibly fun and I've gotten some pretty fun gopro footage that will go into my "January" edit which I'll post here in the future.  In the meantime, here are some screenshots!

Earning Turns

I got some turns in on Grey today. The snow's great up there! so much better than the snow inbounds despite Red Resort's completely fabricated snow-laden reports. Whoever's in charge of that gets two big thumbs down from Jeff. There's no point in lying about snow conditions...

Backflip of the Week

This bflip comes from the jump session that went down in my previous post.  Last hit on a beautiful day.

The Red Goblet

On New Years Eve I partook in a an "Out Cold" inspired race down Back Trail on Red Mountain. The goal of the race was simple - to make it down the hill as fast as possible and spill as little beer as possible. Luckily, I'm a skier and therefore had quite an advantage over the snowboarders so I ended up winning!

Cheers!
